Beneteau First 47.7 Keel Bolts

Hi, I have a First 47.7, that I have just gotten done tightening the keel bolts on.

The reason I decided to tighten the bolts was that I had a leak I was chasing and wanted to eliminate the possibility of the leak coming from a loose keel.

I hauled the boat and examined the hull keel joint, and found no obvious cracks at the joint and no excessive water dripping from the joint when the bottom was dry.

I decided to tighten the keel bolts anyway, what I found that they where not tightened to specification as supplied by svHyLyte from Beneteau. They where probably 25% below minimum specification on the chart.

I have now tightened the bolts to 350'# on the M36 Bolts and 200'# on the M20 Bolts.

If you have a First **.7 series boat, I would check the tourque on the keel bolts the next time you haul out.
