Bedding Suggestions, Please !

I am looking for some suggestions for the best bedding product to use to rebed 6 new lifeline stanchions on our CSY. The bases sit on top of a teak cap rail. Mounting includes a one inch threaded rod bolted though the deck and four, three inch screws through the base plates and deck.

Thanks

Once you've gone butyl you'll never go back. See Mainesail's site about the proper meathod for use. Compass Marine "How To" Articles Photo Gallery by Compass Marine at pbase.com

Another vote for butyl tape. Though nothing is supposed to work in this situation I have even got butyl tape to stick to fiberglass where the PO used silicone.

Morris does not currently use butyl but Sabre does in their hull/deck joints... Morris countersinks....

Re: Bedding Suggestions, Please !

I have been interested in the properties of this goo.

HENRY® 430 ClearPro™ Clear VCT Floor Adhesive
W.W. Henry Flooring Adhesives - Product Listing

When dry, it makes a soft rubber which can move or yield.
Also quite sticky but the stickiness goes away after a while.
But whatever you glued stays together but not very strong like 5200, you can pull it apart.
After it is dry it holds up to water well enough.
I have a used up bucket with some dried glue.
I filled with water and let it soak underwater and it is not redissolving.

when cured it is a light tan color. I actually think you could seal up window glass with this and even underwater wooden boat seams. The stuff is soft enough that swelling planks could squeeze this down.

take a dried hunk of it feels like soft gum, stretch it and it stretches about 100% and breaks, put it back together and it reattaches to itself as it was before.
