Bavaria 36 rudder construction

Hi,

Found the remnants of a leak halfway up the rudder after a winter on the hard in New England. Drilled a hole in the bottom and out came some clear water. Not a stream, but some drips. Looks like foam core construction with only a few layers of thin glass. See photo. That just popped off. Anyone know what the original layup process is on these Bavarias? I need to pull the rudder and check the seal at the shaft.
