barrier coat over lead?

I am almost done sanding the bottom. I hope! I have scimped on getting all the layers of paint off the keel. I am planning on barrier coating the hull and fairing to the keel. Will this be sufficient?

Re: barrier coat over lead?

I striped most of the fairing off the keel with a power washer, hit whatever was left with a sanding disk on a right angle. Put 2 coats of 2000 over the keel to seal it & protect it for the winter. I'll get around to fairing it out next spring.

Re: barrier coat over lead?

A barrier coat on lead , probably not necessary, but certainly bottom paint . An epoxy barrier coat may help the bottom paint stick better , So what the hell , go ahead !
