"Baby it's Cold Outside": Icing, de-icing, re-icing question?

My 85 Catalina 27 is on the hard, somewhat covered with well positioned tarps. She's taking water in the bilge (provenance still unknown). I replaced the leaking scupper hoses. I suspect that a little water could come from the engine ventilation cowls at the stern.
I had to gently break the bilge ice with a hammer the other day and sponge off the water.
QUESTION? is the icing/de-icing/re-icing cycle going to do great damage to the water ingress channels/paths which are still a mystery to me?
The water could come from the chainplates/stanchions areas but no visible signs of leakage anywhere.
Thanks

The simple answer is yes. Water expands as it freezes and it will exacerbate your problem. At some point it may not just be an inconvenience and may cause structural damage.
Once spring arrives you should track down your leaks. It can be very frustrating but a leak free boat is just wonderful and well worth the detective work.
