Awgrip Question

Hello,

I'm preparing to paint my hull and am wondering if it is best to use Awlgrip all the way down to the antifouling and then paint over the Awlgrip with a one part paint for the boot stripe, or paint down to the boot stripe, then awlgrip the boot stripe to the antifouling?

Any other advice would really be appreciated here.

Thanks

Re: Awgrip Question

I think you will find it easier to paint down to the bottom paint and then add the boot strip on top of that. Just let the base coat set up well before taping off and and be careful removing the tape. But then you have to do that either way. I think painting over you get a cleaner tape line rather than having to first tape to the top of the boot and then tape again on the same line to paint the boot if that makes sense.

Re: Awgrip Question

Neither. Ideally you want an Awlgrip boot stripe and below the boot stripe an epoxy barrier coat. Paint your anti-fouling over the epoxy barrier coat.

It's fine to tape over Awlgrip after it has completely cured.

Thanks. Just so I'm clear, how is that different from what I wrote, using awlgrip for the boot stripe down to the antifouling?
