Autopilot: Spare parts for hydraulic pump?

I have two autopilots (on the electronic side) for redundancy but only one hydraulic pump (Lecomble Schmitt RV2) for the hydraulic steering. So, obviously, I like to make sure it does not fail.
What can I do for this? And what are typically the components inside such a pump which fail? I like to have them as spare parts on board.
Do you have any suggestions?

Re: Autopilot: Spare parts for hydraulic pump?

myocean,

As you would already know, a good source of advice might be from the guys who repair hydraulic systems for a living. In case you don't get a big response from your post, there's a specialty shop listed in our directory. Perhaps they have experience with your pump make & model. They are in Anguilla. I don't know where you're located, but of course they're only an email message away.

On our site, just search the keyword hydraulics to find their page and the contact info. This is the only hydraulics specialty shop we've listed so far, but I'm sure some of the other vendors in the directory also work on pumps.

I second Nemo's suggestion, but a spare set of brushes and seals would be a good start.
