Atkins & Hoyle replacement 3/8" (.375") Rubber round cord

Hello!

I have Atkins & Hoyle port windows that need new 3/8" (.375") Rubber round cord to seal the window when closed.

I'm have found plenty of products to match my needs but wanted to reach out and ask if anyone had some suggestions with regards to what type of material composition is the best.

Thanks

For the 1/2 inch for an A&H I used:

https://www.mcmaster.com/#8605K44

there is a 3/8 equivalent

Thanks Gord. I have reached out to them and they replied within 24 hours. I'm looking for an alternative and less expensive route. A&H pricing is $30 for a 3' length.

A&H is a good resource but they are a long way from inexpensive for sure. Was quoted $700 to rebuild an opening hatch. Made that decision easy.
But- they do know their stuff and the materials will be what you need and will work.

Is it solid or hollow core? Soft or hard?
Try Trim Lock and see.

You might check, but I would think that it is $30cdn.....That would make it much more reasonable without the VAT (hst) and with the Canadian exchange.

I also needed to change the gaskets on my A&H portlights (and hatches) and also found their prices high. I recently ordered “Full Round Closed Cell Neoprene Sponge Cord” from Canal Rubber (canalrubber.com). The specifications are on their site and the quality appears pretty good to me. I’m in the process of installing it now so cannot speak to how well it performs. However, at $22 for a 25’ length of 3/8 cord (vs $10 per’), I’m willing to try it.

I went to
Grainger Supply with a piece of the old gasket. They determined the density and sold me enough to do the whole boat for about$30. Two years on and working just fine.

Thanks for all the helpful responses tips. Going the McMaster Carr route.

For those of you that have reinstalled the gaskets....did you remove/unscrew the window from the hatch or did you reinstall the gaskets with the windows attached to the frames?

Seems to me that it would take forever to remove every window from its hatch due to the amount of time it takes to just remove one.

Also, does anyone know what type of caulking is best? Seems A&H uses Silaprene...but I don't know what kind...
