Aries Windvane Maintenance / Rebuild

I bought a used Aries windvane, recently, & am in the process of disassembling it. I'd guess at it being a 2nd Generation, cast aluminum, stainless shaft, the liners look like Delrin. The PO had it rebuilt about 3 years ago, then kept it on the boat as he went west coast to Hawaii+ & back, but didn't use it(Pacific Cup requirement?).

Over the past three years it has stiffened up a lot & the aluminum bushing on the lower end of the servo rudder spindle had a crack in it. I have the spindle out, now, and have the following questions:

1) What should I be using for lube?

2) Has anyone replaced the bushing? What did you use?

3) Anyway to loosen up the servo rudder casing movement without driving out the main pivot shaft?

4) Should I just sand the liner mating surface on the rudder casing to free-up the spindle?
