Anti-Fouling Paint

Hi to you all.
Dose any one know how to make a cheap antifowling paint.
I heard of a fisherman using just tar on his wooden trawler.
Would that work?
Any idea?

some folks add cayenne to epoxy paint. some add copper to epoxy paint. some add tbt to epoxy paint. some add copper to the underside of their boats....you may decide to google antifouling paint and alternatives.

But to the question; if something cheap homemade worked all that well there wouldn't an industry for ant-fouling paint.

Found a Recipe at The Captain's Corner
Captain's Corner

OLD-STYLE RECIPE FOR HOMEMADE BOTTOM PAINT
1 pound red lead
4 ounces copper bronze powder
4 ounces arsenic
4 ounces chrome yellow
4 ounces Paris blue
1 pint driers
1 pint boiled linseed oil
1 pint copal varnish
If too thick, add more varnish.
IN A PINCH Any paint can be made somewhat antifouling by adding a healthy slug of the nastiest ground red pepper you can find.

The folks at this site say 2% cetyl palmitate added to house paint is better than commercial antifouling paint.

Holy jeezus. I hope everybody understands that this is complete bullsh*t.

Skimping on anti fouling paint by trying to formulate your own will likely end up costing you many times what you saved intially in headaches, foul bottoms and an early haulout to repaint with something that actually works.

it seems that the easiest way out is to ad copper powder to epoxy paint. I heard of other yochties doing it. Any idea where to buy it in Oz?
As for the 10 Years, yes it might be, but it requires occasional sanding to re-expose the copper
