Anti foul

It may be a silly question showing my inexperience, but I will ask anyway.
We have a Seawind 1000 and have no facilities close by to slip. If we beach regularly, 3 to 4 times a year, and clean the bottom is it necessary to anti foul as often.
Does it do any harm not to providing we keep the bottom clean?

I have found that a regular scrub (not ablative paint) does a world of good. However, when the copper's gone, it's gone.

We nearly always get 2 years out of our paint.

No harm at all- you can just put a mask on and clean it while you snorkel in the water you dont even need to beach it--The mre growth on the bottom the slower you sail- thats the only draw back

Scrubbing is good! It works but can be a bit of a pain......

We just hauled for the first time in 4 years!! Yup there's very little paint left but a regular scrapping has kept us reasonably clean. Before that we hauled at 3 years and again not too bad a job. We used to haul annually but have been cruising places where haulouts are few and far between.

I don't intend going back to an annual haulout ever.

Thanks for the replies. I suppose my main concern was when the paint wears off does it harm the fibreglass and it seems it doesn't .

Technically, it is not fiberglass. There should be a layer of gelco.

If you want to scrub, you may consider applying a primer and 1 layer of hard antifouling and then just do the scrubbing. The primer protects the gelco somewhat and the hard antifouling makes your scrubing sessions further apart.
