I don't know either. I just make this sh*t up as I go along!

I offered to give the Admiral a bikini wax like that and she declined the offer!

Re: And So it Begins . . . Knottybuoyz' New Project

I knew I had it somewhere. Just couldn't put my finger on it!

Ever have one of those moments when you're frustrated looking for something and just have to clean out the entire shed? Yup, that was today!

Look what I found!

Hadn't seen the engine in a couple of years it was covered with stuff. Put the strongbar on it and turned it over a dozen times or so.

Here's the stuff! Got Glass?

Things are a little more orderly now. Ordering more epoxy & glass today. Should be back to boat building next week. I think my sander miss's me!

You need Flexicat. Especially if you want "show car". An air file with a custom made pad is awesome too, more than pays for itself.

Oh great! Another shop gizmo I just have to get! *sigh*

I don't have 'nuff air volume from my compressor for most air file or inline sanders.

I'm gonna go write you another sanding song Minaret!

Re: And So it Begins . . . Knottybuoyz' New Project

The sandinsanity (I just made that up) continues. Six hrs today. The sides are now as smooth as a newborn baby's tookus!

RIP one Black & Decker half sheet RO sander! It died a horrible death!

You may want to flip the hull over before trying to epoxy that thing in.

(Just trying to be helpful.)

Re: And So it Begins . . . Knottybuoyz' New Project

You know you're a boat builder when:

You're masterfully filleting joints on your latest creation when you come up 2" short! Looking around you can't find any more wood flour or other filler so you comb out your mustache and beard and get 'nuff to git 'r done!

Nice! Wait till you can pick yer nose and fill an imperfection with the epoxy dust booger and it actually sticks and sands out nice!

Fun aside, are you using fillet balls?

Ok, fillet balls? I'll bite, what's a fillet ball?

I've used the dust booger trick before!

Gross!

Rush out and get one, these are the ONLY way to fillet. I make my own custom large ones out of ball hitches. For a fillet which barely needs sanding, fillet as normal with ball, remove excess, spray with a fine mist of alchohol and make a final single pass with the ball. Use one and you'll never go back.
