Aluminum packers
I need to pack up the
engine
mounts by about 15mm would aluminium be suitable? It is easier to
work
than
steel
but I am a bit worried it would compress. The
engine
is a 60hp
diesel
.

Re: Aluminum packers
Not sure what a packer is but
ALuminum
shims would be fine.

Re: Aluminum packers
Our engine, a 3 cylinder kubota, sits atop 1.5" of aluminium spacers that used to be a truck frame. 400 hours like this and no worries.

Re: Aluminum packers
They would only compress if you caught on fire and they melted.

Re: Aluminum packers
Aluminium is fine use 5000 series (a
marine
grade) for best
corrosion
resistance and strength.

Re: Aluminum packers
We had
aluminum
shims on our 85hp Ford
Lehman
and did not notice any problems for 15,000nm. But use a good grade of AL.

Re: Aluminum packers
No problems, used all the time. The thicker the better.
My opinion.
