I am looking at a Morgan 454 converting to LPG with tanks placed in open tank holders off the stainless stern rail. Are there problems with exposed tanks in this set-up?

Generally not recommended offshore as a large wave could rip them off the push pit. Probably ok for lakes and coastal sailing though.

That's where mine is mounted. If a wave rips it off it will be the least of my worries. Seriously I have a bracket made by suremarine.com and it's very sturdy. I've had mine for several years and I'm very happy with it.

Obviously they've never taken a large following wave

With the exposed tanks where do you place the solenoid?

A friend has two small tanks mounted on his stern. He just made darned sure that the hose entrance to the hull were properly sealed. I don't know where he put his solenoid, but it is most likely inside.
