Aluminum Hatch Refurbish

Its that time of year for the usual touch-ups. I am refurbishing my hatches and checking if anyone knows new or better methods. In the past I have done most methods at one time or another. The aluminum frames seem to pose some issues. The easiest was simply sending to a guy who stripped and re-anodized. In a pinch, I have painted. Recently I have powder coated, but my 'junk' oven died and I think using the kitchen to cure the powder coating my not go well. My biggest problem is prepping. I don't think sanding is best, and haven't found a good stripping method (other than a commercial setup).
Any thoughts?

I got a guy in middle town DE that strips and powdercoats and does it fairly cheap if you are close.

Re: Aluminum Hatch Refurbish

I'm in NY, but get down to south Jersey every now and then. I could hit DE. I wonder if he would just strip? Once I get the main hatch frame apart (the knob to latch assembly is not playing nice) I would mind having them cleaned up. At least steel can be hit with a torch to free up. Aluminum requires a little extra care and fiddling.
