Alder barbour 12v conversion

I have a fridge and a freezer each with its own Alder barbour cold plate and they are hooked up to a 120v compressor....the system works well when we run the engine for a few hours will not start up with a 2500 watt inverter or a honda 2000 generator, it pulls too many amps.....(by the way there is no thermostate, we have it on a timer when we are plugged into shore power)..
I have just purchased two 430 solar panels and an outback 80 controler so we can venture off and be on the hook.....I want to get rid of this 120v compressor and get a 12v water cooled compressor......can I keep my old Alder Barbour cold plates and just replace the compressor???
