Adhesive for Hypalon Dinghy

I'm looking for a small quantity of a good adhesive for a small repair to my hypalon inflatable. I'm assuming that a 2 part adhesive would be the best, but I'm not seeing them in the usual catalogs anymore, and what I used to see came in larger quantities than I need. Once opened I wouldn't expect it to last long on the shelf.

With so many adhesives available locally, I'm thinking something might work on hypalon. It's not a crytical repair; I need to give a little reinforcement to one tow ring, which is used only for securing the cover (the sideways pull tore some of the fabric of the ring mount a couple of years ago.)

Anybody find something that works?

Most marine stores carry the two part adhesive. West Marine I know carries it and yes it is much better than the one-part hypalon glue that you may find also.

Best (and longest lasting on the shelf) I've found is called SC2000.

It's sold for conveyor belt repair.

The instructions say something like, "Rough up both sides of the affected area, apply glue to both sides, clamp for 20 minutes and put back into service."

We used it on our Avon a couple of times. Great stuff.

5200

If you are in the tropics don't waste your time with the two part stuff or the contact glue. 5200 is the BEST. Give it a try and post it.

G'Day All,

We'll add our vote for SC2000 for hypalon repairs. Extremely strong, easy to use, and best of all, if you keep the hardener part in the fridge (and it is a tiny glass bottle), it lasts years on the shelf, even after opening. Downside is that unlike the Bostic two pot cement that most manufacturers use, applying heat does not break down the bond, so that disassembly is not practical once it has set up.

5200 will do a useful job, but it's long cure time makes it hard to use on your dinghy... at least, ours is in daily use, and the multi-day cure would be a problem. Sikaflex 291 or Fixtec might be a bit better in this regard, and would have adequate strength for many applications.

Cheers,

Thanks !
I'll check out the SC2000 for future use, but since I have 5200 and the time to let it set up, I'll give that a try.
