Acrylic/Lewmar hatch and self adhesive 3M Velcro

I would like to add some security sensors to my Lewmar hatches, which necessitates the use of the 3M industrial Velcro.

I know acrylic can be sensitive to chemicals, for instance: I had some crazing from using a bike inner tube as a gasket - but none from gluing a fitting back on with epoxy!

I wondered if there might be something in the sticky self adhesive (that is commonly used for Velcro, stickers etc) that could cause crazing in the acrylic.

Has anyone used rubbery-gummy self-adhesive on Acrylic, stickers or the like, and can report any problems.

Input or advice very much appreciated!.

that gummy adhesive on the back of velcro should give you no problems except if the acrylic is fairly old (10+ years) thats usually when you might see some crazing.

Hi,
3M adhesive will be fine as this is used on the seal of the hatches. I cannot for see an issue with this at all.
Best Regards

I have used 3M tapes long-term on Lewmar hatches (covers). No problem.
