my girlfriend wants me to replace the lifelines with stailess tubing, yes same as stanchions!!

is this a good idea?? havent seen anyboat with solid liflelines

oh and she wants net too...

Jobi... tell her its an expensive waste of money... looks pretty... looks strong as well..
but its just hollow tubing and offers nowhere near the the security of taut wire..
The netting however is not a bad idea... stops you and bigger items going under the wires and over the side...

I have just finished running netting around the boat.......all the way around the boat.......I HAVE JUST SPENT TWO WEEKENDS MAKING A SCHNAUZER PLAYPEN.......but in black it does look kinda cool

Our stinkpot has solid lifelines.



Guess which is easier to walk aournd on narrow decks?
On a small sailboat, solid lifelines are wayyyy too cumbersome.

but still I have a question about the wire? they are only to keep balance right? we ar not to hold on them carelessly...thats is what I said to her and my kids and also not to stand on the hatches...maybe I am being a little paranoid

Generaly speaking keeping the girlfriend happy has fringe benefits. If I was a young man those benefits would likely be at the top of whats important to me list.

There's another plus for stainless wire lifelines, providing they're a suitable size. In a pinch, they could stand in for a broken shroud. Try that with solid tubing!

Some people grab them to haul themselves outa the dinghy.... the shrouds are better.. lol.
Just don't use them the way wrestlers do..
And yes.. deck hatches are pretty strong to..

Benifits hmmm? but I am no spring buck and shes alredy spoil rutten...she will have to live with wire...plus I just gave her a tatoo...enough is enough a mans got to save energy for cruising

Lifelines are for catching people sliding on the deck. They are NOT for holding onto or balance, and people who use them in that way make me nervous. They have not learned how to move on a boat. That is what cabin top railings and other hand holds are for.

You may need concentrate more on the sailing....
