Re: 1980 Morgan 462 owners manual

Hi Rockborn and welcome.
There is another Morgan group on sailnet but in general there's not too many 462 owners out there. I have a 462 that I'm doing a major re-fit on myselft and hope to be in the water next summer. Another resource that you may find helpful is a gentleman by the name of Skip. He has had a 461 since around 2006. His website has tons of pictures of his and two other morgans including various (major) projects.
Web-Folio -- Your Portfolio on the Web
Glad you found a users manual through Gordmay... I was considering scanning mine, but remembered that Skip has one on his site.
DO you have a genset? Which engine do you have? I (think) that I still have manuals for the Onan and upgraded Perkins that my boat had...all gone. replaced by a new Onan and a new Yanmar...
Happy Sailing

Re: 1980 Morgan 462 owners manual

hi sv sable, thanks for the reply. i just had my boat delivered to liberty landing marina, jersey city, finally. i have a 4-154 perkins, seems fine, but the gen-set is shot. i had the main AC unit replaced in Charleston S.C. replaced all hydraulic steering components, transmission, which i got from atlantis marine near Boston, new drive shaft , cutlass, prop, among other minor upgrades. i am looking for a gen-set . what model onan did you choose? i also need to replace a couple of hatches, odd size 18" x 5" approx. and some floor area near AC units , about 10 sq ft . otherwise its been an experience, this being my first sailboat. She really goes well under power as well as by sail so i'm looking forward to many adventurous times aboard her . thanks for your help and contribution.

Re: 1980 Morgan 462 owners manual

I got the Onan Diesel 7.5KW QD (Quiet Diesel), but in my case, all electrical is being replaced including wiring. Unlike you, I have never had this boat in the water.

Which hatch is 18 X 5? or do you mean ports?

Re: 1980 Morgan 462 owners manual

Hello All 462 owners
I purchased my 1981 462 ketch last year and spent 2 months working on her and 2 months sailing last year. I'm heading back to Mexico in Oct this year for 6 months. She sails nice . I also have the origonal 4-154, I can't complain about the engine, but parts seem to be hard to find so I find I need to make alot of my own replacement parts, cooling parts in pariticular. I have the complete manual but it sounds like that problem is solved. One mistake I made was I left the transmission in forward gear while sailing (hurth hbw250) and it now slips when hot and I've had to put new plates in. Hopefully that will fix the problem. Everything else seems fine so looking forward to Oct.
Regards Koolekat

Re: 1980 Morgan 462 owners manual

Hi koolekat,
have you tried TAD diesel? TAD for Perkins Diesel Engines - Perkins Marine Engines, Perkins Marine Diesel Engines, Perkins Engines

I was going to have my (ex) Perkins 4-236 rebuilt, but that was my largest concern-availability of part, especially being in the Caribbean... so I re-powered with Yanmar. Best of luck and fair winds

Re: 1980 Morgan 462 owners manual

For the 4 plastic bomars I just purchased Lewmar's Ocean 10 hatches. For the ports, I have all new stainless ports from New Found Metals (NFM). I'm also replacing the 2 "lids" in both heads with an opening hatch, but I have not yet found a replacement...

Happy Sailing...

Re: 1980 Morgan 462 owners manual

I know this is a very old thread/post but I do have a full 130 page Morgan 462 manual from the factory. I’ve got it in PDF format. PM me and I’ll send it to you.
