Zf10m transmission for sale anyone?

Does anyone have a zf10m for sale by any chance? I’m on Maui. It’s formerly known as a hurth tranny. I’ve located some online for sale and am going to rebuild the one I just took out that wouldn’t go in forward. I want it as a backup to keep on the boat. I just need one ASAP cause I’m on anchor with no tranny. Thanks

I’ve actually got one that reverse is slipping on (po had been running the gear in reverse with the wrong prop).

It’s located in Houston. How much were you looking to spend?

I’m not sure what it’s worth with the reverse gear slipping. Are you implying it won’t slip when paired with the right 4.108 and the right prop? I’m from Port A before Maui. My number is 5129715343. Feel free to call or text. Thanks

Before purchasing or repairing a ZF or HBW10 to go behind a 4108, have a look at the brochure.

Even at a pleasure duty rating (the lightest one) it is very likely that the transmission is rather undersized, which could have something to do with why you're rebuilding it...

For instance, a fellow member, http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...ck-211062.html , has an HBW250 rebuilt for sale that was originally behind a Westerbeke/Perkins/Mazda 4182, which is rated at 70 horse power, probably only about 20 more than the 4108.

There are differences in size, primarily the 250 is 4 cm longer than the 10, but the 250 could work, or a gear with a slightly higher rating might actually be the same size as the 10, and be simply a bolt on. As advised previously, replacing the drive plate should be SOP, so if by chance they're different, it should be about the same cost-wise.

A new PRM 90 may work for you. https://www.asap-supplies.com/us/cat...sult/?q=prm+90
Check to make sure your existing drive plate and gearbox adapter plate will work with it or you will need those also. I think the gear splines may be the same but not sure. Look it up or call ASAP and see if they will do the leg work for you.

A new PRM 125 would be even better.

That’s correct, it was mated to a LH prop. If turning a RH prop the gear will be in the virtually unused clutch pack. I’ll text later today. I’m thinking around $250 plus shipping for a start.

I do have A HBW250(ZF25), that can handle much better a Perkins 408 torque. The ratio is roughly 2.7 to 1. In perfect shape, I kept it as a backup but I don't need it any more...
