This is just where I would start, being easiest thing to do. I would not use glue or a
sealant as one day your going to want to remove this hose.
If you use a lubricant to get it back on, I'd use a
water based lube, like a little dish soap or surgical lube. Petroleum lubes like
oil or grease can soften the rubber and make it weak and will even make it stick like glue.
Old hoses that I am changing rather than fighting them off and maybe hurting myself or even breaking what they are attached to, I cut off a cut running with the long axis of the hose on it's end of course allows you to peel it off, just be sure you have the correct replacement before you cut the old hose off
