Yanmar GL4-X100 Identification

I'm somewhat embarassed to admit it having owned my current boat for 4 years now, but I have a part in my fuel system that I don't know the function of nor do I know the maintenance requirements. Numerous searches on the internet have failed to provide me any help. The device is a Yanmar part with the Designation GL4-X100 printed on it. There is one in each of my diesel lines (including to the 1 for the ONAN genset). The part is basically an inverted U shape about 2.5 inches at the base and about the same high, and about 3/4 of an inch thick. It appears to be made of aluminum. The diesel fuel line from the tank is attached on one side at the base of the U and the line to the racor filter is attached to the other. There is a bolt in the center that would appear to allow one to open the device. I hesitate to open one in case I need a new Oring or something to put it back together. It would appear that this might be some sort of coarse filter. Can anyone help me identify the function and maintenance requirements of this part?

Do you have the numbers right?

Sounds like an Algae-X Magnetic Fuel Conditioner

Allegedly....the magnetic force when the fuel passes thru...destroys algae cells.....

Amazingly people have MRIs every day and they don't blow up.

There is as much discussion about this scam as there are threads aboot gunz on botes

I don't beLIEve there are any servicable parts inside.

These things have a Yanmar logo on them, though try as I might I have not able to find any reference to them in any Yanmar documentation. Do you think the Algae-X condtioner was sold under the Yanmar brand?
