I'm somewhat embarassed to admit it having owned my
current boat for 4 years now, but I have a part in my
fuel system that I don't know the function of nor do I know the
maintenance requirements. Numerous searches on the
internet have failed to provide me any help. The device is a
Yanmar part with the Designation GL4-X100 printed on it. There is one in each of my
diesel lines (including to the 1 for the ONAN genset). The part is basically an inverted U shape about 2.5 inches at the base and about the same high, and about 3/4 of an inch thick. It appears to be made of
aluminum. The
diesel fuel line from the tank is attached on one side at the base of the U and the line to the
racor filter is attached to the other. There is a bolt in the center that would appear to allow one to open the device. I hesitate to open one in case I need a new Oring or something to put it back together. It would appear that this might be some sort of coarse filter. Can anyone help me identify the function and
maintenance requirements of this part?
