Yanmar engine spare parts

Hi to everyone
I'm stuck in Progreso, Mexico with abroken Diesel fuel supply pump. It is a Yanmar 2GMF 18 hp engine. Who has a good e mail address in the US to order the spare part? Tks already and good wind

Re: Yanmar engine spare parts

If it is the lift pump, why not bypass it and feed by gravity or with an electric pump that you can get cheaply from most spare parts places. Just tell them its for diesel.

Regards,
Richard.

If you really want a dealer in the U.S., try Torresen (TMS Sailing, Marine Diesel Engine Parts and Boating Supplies from Toad Marine Supply),
email customerservice@torresenonline.com, tel. 616.820.0022

But there is a Yanmar dealer in Merida: Mimsa (Máquinas Industriales Y Marinas S.A. de C.V.) email: congada@prodigy.net.mx tel.:52 (999) 945 09 41

Won't I have troubles with the whole RPM' to develop, if not original spare? The mechanic suggested an electric lift pump.

I agree. A generic diesel pump will be the quick And inexpensive fix until the proper replacement can be obtained. The pump is only there to provide a positive pressure at the inlet of the injection pump. Should not affect power in any way.

These small electric pumps are easily found in Mexico.

Re: Yanmar engine spare parts

Almost any kind of small pump will do...its the injector pump that controls how the engine runs. The lift pump just supplies the fuel to the injector pump.
20 years ago in a little 26 footer, I had this same problem and I had a small electric pump I used for transferring fuel between tanks...I just plumbed that in and off we went. I never did replace the original lift pump...didn't seem any point !
