Yanmar engine hour meter

My hour meter is disconnected and I'm trying to trace it out. The meter is located in a locker under the stairs. It appears the wires are going back to the eng panel in the cockpit. Is that correct? I would have thought it would go to a sensor on the block. Does it connect to the tach?

I want to reword this and place the hour meter in the nav desk panel. This is going to add about 10-ft to the existing cable. Will this be a problem?

The 10' won't be an issue, but I can't speak as to where it's wired

All the hour meter needs is power to function. Wire it to the ignition switch and call it a day.

Agree with Sailmonkey. Wired the hour meter on my boat to switched hot terminal of the key switch.
