Yanmar 4JH3-HTE rebored or liners ?

Hi everyone:

Has anybody done reboring on this engine before ?

I cant find oversize pistons and rings but the engine service manual says this engine is not overhauled with cylinder liners but reboring it for oversize pistons so I am confused

how can my dealer not have a parts number for oversize pistons and rings ?

any comments will be appreciated

Blue,

Give us some more info, if you can. There have been several threads about Yanmar, and their dealer/distributor network. If you will tell us where you are, there are folks that can recommend a good dealer for you. Some - and I'll say it again, SOME dealers appear to be less than honest.

We have pretty much the same engine. If I were in your shoes, I'd probably choose to repower with something other than Yanmar. That's how much I like Yanmar's "program". I like their products ok, but I absolutely HATE their life support system that is designed to extract the most $$ possible from the boating public.

If I were guessing, I'd GUESS that they make no money on the new engines they sell to the boat mfg - and look to make it up later. I have no real knowledge of this, though.

Thanks for comments Bill, I buy from Sun Power Diesel out of Dania, Florida. Nice guys, serious business. Problem is they can´t find oversize pistons nevertheless Yanmar service manual says you overhaul by reboring and going to oversize pistons only, no liners.
Any experience overhauling your engine ?
