Question Yanmar 4JH2E Fuel Injector Pump Removal

During a recent sail to Mozambique my inboard Yanmar managed to run fairly well on a mixture of water and diesel - not by intent I must say. So upon our return to SA I began flushing tanks , stripping and servicing. However I am trying to remove the fuel injector pump - it is only held on with 3 nuts but it cannot be extracted due to what appears to be the advance timing ring. Do I have to remove this first or is the shaft simply a tapered key way which I can drift out ? Any help appreciated.
