Re: Yanmar 3YM30 where do I find the tacho sensor point?

Congratulations Nautilus!
Thanks to Wotname for your detailed, expert, and perseverant guidance. I’m certain many of us have learned (I have) from your masterful contributions, here and elsewhere.

Thank you Gord for the kind words - I reckon we all learnt something from this thread so thanks to Nautilus for starting it.

Re: Yanmar 3YM30 where do I find the tacho sensor point?

Found some documentation for the sensor from Mack Boring. Probably too late to help.

Note from Mike in 2014, Our old 60-95 Balmar had 14 poles and the Yanmar adjustments would not work with that so RPM was always wrong.

Quote:
Rick, the Hitachi alt is the standard offered on that engine. It is a 12 pole alt and the panel is set up for the 10.2 pulse reading. I don’t have dimension on the pulley. I have included the specs on the tach sender and the alt info. The flywheel tooth count is 97. I have included the instructions on the adjustment of the panel. There is also a 120 amp Valeo alternator now offered for this engine as well. The belt and pulley get upgraded to a serpentine belt. This might be a better alternative. We do not have a dual alternator setup developed for this engine. You can add a smart regulator or a dual battery isolator to the system to ensure proper charging for your 2 battery banks.
Let me know if this helps.
Thanks
