Yanmar 3YM30 - Power Hookup

To All,

If the "power" hook-up (from Battery) is directly connected to the starter solenoid..? Where is the connection for the alternator to be providing charging current back to the batteries?

Thanks Much for any guidance.

The hot side of the solenoid or the positive battery terminal

Still surrounded by anchors.

Lonesoldier,

Thank you for the reply.

So, the direct +Pos connection from the "house" battery provides the starting voltage and after the engine is running, provides the wattage back to the "house" battery?

My confusion stems from the Valeo 125 Amp alternator has only one post I believe - +Pos.

Thanks again>

That is correct. Simple and probably the most common factory setup.

Note with multiple banks and a selector switch, the starting and charging currents are switched from bank to bank simultaneously. Simple.

Not meaning to be crass. I would recommend it to anyone that owns a boat, get a book on DC 101 if you have no background in that area.

Not an unreasonable reply given the question.
