yanmar 3GM30F replacement hoses

So my fresh water hoses on my yanmar 3GM30 are only 19 years old and they don't look at all that bad. I'm thinking it might be time to do a bit of preventative maintenance and just replace the three hoses. I did look at them and they seem OK, about 1000 hours on the engine, 500 of which is mine.

My question is where's a good place to purchase the hoses. Go to a marine yanmar dealer or just get the hoses from the auto parts place. Two hoses are short straight pieces. One, I'm betting the fun one to replace, is a short 90 elbow. It would be really neat if I could purchase one automotive hose to cut and use for all three pieces. My question as anyone done that and happen to know which hose would work.

Thoughts????

I used to have a 33-5 buccanner and that was a fun boat to sail. I swear that boat would point really high.

I had (post tense due to Sandy) a 3GM30F in my Hunter 336. Last winter I took off the three hoses, took them to a NAPA dealer and got suitable replacement for about $15. The counter guy just took them in back, rummaged around and found ones that were close enough. I trimmed them to length and was good to go.

Re: yanmar 3GM30F replacement hoses

After seeing the prices of the genuine Yanmar hoses, I went to SuperCheap Auto and rummaged through their hose collections to find hoses of the right diameter that I could cut to make those right angle ones....works fine !

Re: yanmar 3GM30F replacement hoses

Can Slang 45 Rubber Exhaust Hose, 1 3/4" sold in West marine be used to replace Yama 3GM30F engine hose. The diameter look right.

Thanks
