I spoke to the mechanic
. He asked if I had experienced a failure in the water
pump">raw water pump shaft seal
. I had to buy a new water pump about 300 hrs ago because of such a problem. He says that the salt water
from the water pump leaks
into the injector fuel pump
and causes corrosion
. I still can't work out the water gets from the water pump shaft to the IC pump. I thought the water pump sits isolated under the engine
and just is turned by a belt and pumps raw water.
I tried a good greasing of the speed govenor lever without success. The engine
is now starting at a even higher rpm
(2600!) & seems stuck there.
I think I will just have to take the IC pump & speed lever assembly to the mechanic
