Yanmar 2gmf

Folks
This is my first year sailing and things are going good. I will shortly be doing a 7 to 8 day cruise on Georgian Bay, going up to the Northern channel from Penetanguishene. My Yanmar 2GMF runs perfectly. What should I be checking, Replacing, or have spare parts for, before leaving. All comments appreciated

Re: Yanmar 2gmf

Unless you know the last time it was serviced, change the oil and filter, check/change the air filter, check and/or change the raw water impeller. Carry a spare impeller with you. Clean the raw water sea strainer. Also, consider changing the fresh water coolant (50% antifreeze). I also changed out the exhaust elbow on my engines (I have two of them), but if your boat has been in fresh water, it should not be a problem. Check fan belts and replace if any cracking/wear is noticed. Finally, clean/change primary and secondary fuel filters and bleed fuel system.

None of this is hard, and it will give you confidence that you can handle most problems when you are away from the dock.
