yamaha 3jh4ce

hi hope some one can help me with some advice.
i am in the process of buying a second hand catamaran with a pair of 3jh4ce and saildrives.
motors have done about 450 hours . the broker has had a service and per purchase inspection done and all sounds good.
but the wide open throttel max revs was 2800 in netural and 2600 in gear with a boat speed of aprox 8 knots.
he tells me this is in spec.
i under stand they should do 3000 rpm can you please tell me if its ok or a problem.

thanks

I'm sure you mean yanmar. You are going to buy subject to survey, right? And part of the survey should be a thorough survey and sea trial of the boat and engines. At least here in the US, it is never acceptable to rely on the word of a broker.

Re: yamaha 3jh4ce

Yanmar specs require that the engine reaches full revs (3000 rpm) in gear, so there is a problem - either not getting full travel on throttle cable or over-propped.
Can verify this with Yanmar Australia, www.yanmar.com.au
