I have a MD11D that's 27 years old that has had no issues whatsoever. No question they are louder than Yanmars though.

Helping a friendf re-power his C&C 38 with a Volvo 2 cyl. and putting in a new Yanmar. The Volvo ran OK for many years but finally died. Personally, I wouldn't touch another Volvo. Parts are expensive and hard to find.

That pretty much sums it up doesn't it? Bigger names in marine engines have spare parts available worldwide - at least in theory.

If I coould choose, usually I take the engine that comes with the boat I wnat to buy, I would choose a Perkins. simply because they are more spread than the rest (or?) in generators, tractors and all kinds of applications
