Westerbeke W40

I have acquired a Westerbeke W40 which is a Perkin 4-107 which was removed from a Westsail 32 to install in a Newport 41 that I am restoring. I am wondering if any if any of the CF members with these engines can tell me what should be on the threaded fitting on the top, right front side of the engine. Fitting is after the filter on the fuel return from the injectors to the top of the filter and also a connection to the air intake.

Re: Westerbeke W40

From my experience with 4-108 engines w/o inlet air heaters, they take the fuel return line to the tank off of the top of the fuel filter at the same fitting as the injector return fuel.
In your picture, they ran what would be the return fuel line forward to the vertical "manifold" and tapped into that manifold to feed fuel to the cold start "flame thrower" in the inlet manifold. So probably the threaded fitting that you are asking about is for a banjo bolt and banjo to connect your return fuel hose to.

Ok thanks Doug, I understand now that I've re read it again, I thought the return line would be bigger as it is the same size as my supply on my Yanmar 3GM in my J35.
