westerbeke mechanic

I have a 30B westerbeke. was running rough, so now has new injectors, glow, plugs, upgraded fuel prime pump, filters etc etc, and now wont start ... at all. Fuel flowing , injectors work , engine turning over etc ...
lost for ideas of what to do next

So looking for a Westerbeke Marine ( mobile) mechanic Cape Coral area Fl. Any recommendations.

Just because there is fuel flowing at an injector fitting, it does not mean there is not air in the system. It takes a good bit of pressure to open an injector, any air in the system will be compressable and the injector will not open.

Re: westerbeke mechanic

I recently replaced the injectors on my Westerbeke 33. Took me awhile to get the system bleed before it started. Agreed with the air in the system remarks.

Keep cracking the connections while the fuel pump runs and engine turns over to get the air out.

Re: westerbeke mechanic

Any diesel needs fuel, compression and heat to fire. Since it was running and you opened the fuel system, air in the fuel system is the best answer.
A diesel compresses air about 20 times causing the air temp to be well above the ignition temp of diesel fuel. That's where you get the heat. Your rings and cylinders didn't suddenly go bad, so you must have compression, but that can be checked. Many people have trouble bleeding fuel systems. Bleed the injector until bubble free fuel runs, then crack the injector nuts and crank (with rest time for the starter if necessary) until pressurized, bubble free fuel comes out. If it is cold, use the glow plugs.
