Westerbeke Fuel Lift Pump

Hello All, I have a 5KW-2003 Westerbeke generator. The fuel lift pump appears to have stopped working. I checked the positive and negative leads when the pre-heat toggle is engaged. They read the same voltage as the battery. I found the origional Westerbeke lift pump priced from $175-$200. I also found a replacement Facet pump for $90.00. Does anyone have experience with the Facet pump. Is it worth the money. Thanks

Re: Westerbeke fuel lift pump

I have a Westerbeke 30 in my Cal 34. A few years back the (manual) fuel lift pump stopped working and a mechanic installed an (electric) Facet pump; works fine. Only problem is, if you lose electrical power (battery) the engine won't run without battery power like I believe a manual pump will.

Re: Westerbeke fuel lift pump

i ahve a nice, small electrical assist pump to feed fuel to my engine--works great. if ye havent the electricity to manage this, you will not be able to start your engine. while underway, we had to bleed system fmy 4-108 ( perkins, bu ti use the lift pump from my old westerfreeeek) 21 times due to failure of fuel to reach engine due to dirt/clogged lines/air--- the electrical pump is low psi, and was a true lifesaver.
got the pump at NAPA--best 50 dollars i have spent so far....
