westerbeke 35 HP

Hello fellow cruisers!
Any one familiar with this old, 1982 beast? I can't locate the internal fuel filter on it. I can only see the external racor, but not a sign of the internal one.
Best regards, Henryk

Re: westerbeke 35 HP

I think hes asking about the final filter, one usually on the engine, usually supplied by the engine manufacturer.
Not to be silly, but follow the fuel line from the Racor, it should go to the LP pump, then then a secondary filter, then the HP pump.
Order may be different, but if you follow the fuel line, it has to go to a filter if you have one, maybe you don't?
Technically I don't see why you couldn't just have a Racor, but if I only had one, I'd make sure it's a 2 micron cartridge, assuming final filters are 2 micron, not sure. Point is to make sure you filter fuel to the engine manufacturers rating, or better

Re: westerbeke 35 HP

I have a W40. Wasn't aware there is an internal filter........ thought it was just the spin-on one on the engine, and of course a primary filter that most people install before the engine....... i will follow this thread with interest incase i'm wrong!

Re: westerbeke 35 HP

On our 46 there are two filters on the engine in addition to the external fuel flter/water separator.

Westerbeke marinized several engines and named them based on whatever horsepower they were. For example, my westerbeke 46 is a mitsubishi block but they also made the same engine using a perkins block.

Find out what block you have by looking around for a plate that gives some info. Usually its on top of the engine somewhere but it may be on the side.
