Volvo Penta D2-55 C sea water pump

Looking for help with a replacement water pump">raw water pump for a volvo d2-55
Has been physically damaged when a nearby pulley came off.

A complete new one or used one is required. Trouble is Volvo want almost $900 here in Aus.

Model number is 3583089.

Looking for an alternative or something at a reasonable price.

Could an electric pump be installed?

Thanks for looking.

Volvo Penta 3583089 Sea Water Pump - Volvo Penta 3583089 - Engine Cooling Pumps - Engine Cooling System - Engine/Mechanical - Boatersland Marine

Do a search on "Volvo" and the part number and you will get many sources.

Re: Volvo Penta D2-55 C sea water pump

Good source from rwidman. Another thought is Johnson Pump. The D-55 pump is built by Johnson Pump, and is Johnson's part number 10-13283-01.

FYI, Johnson std. impellor is #09-1027B-01.

Johnson also makes an oversize impellor that is .015" thicker for when the pump cover gets a bit worn, and it is #09-1027B-10

These pumps are not cheap. I paid $500 + for mine (Volvo TAMD41P). Use the one I linked to as a base and see if you can beat the price. You probably won't beat it by much.

Re: Volvo Penta D2-55 C sea water pump

I have the same engine (which is really a Perkins) my water pump started leaking and I replaced it at a cost of $500+ for the part.bought in FL I'll look for the details and advise if you still need them.
When I bought this engine in 2003 I asked the location of the zincs and was told it didn't have any. So far corrosion ruined the oil cooler and now the heat exchager has a hole eated by corrosion. Volvo charge an arm and a leg for all parts I'm telling you this so you can check around your engine for possible problems.

Ben 373,
I did a little rooting around in my garage and found a used D2-55 sea water pump, complete with drive gear. Let me know if you still need it.
