Volvo Penta D2-55

I just changed the raw water impeller and now I have no water flow when I start the engine. Any assistance in pointing me in the right direction would be good.

Re: Volvo Penta D2-55

1) The new propeller may be not locked on the shaft. Open the pump and check if you set it up properly. It may be freewheeling if you did not.

Engines manual shows how to do it all, including the locking method.

2) If the propeller is OK, there may be an air lock.

3) Otherwise, you may have forgotten to open the seacock ;-)

Re: Volvo Penta D2-55

Pretty sure the impeller is locked on the shaft good. I've taken the cover off three times after starting the engine - it appears to have spun.

Made sure the seacock was open first thing - didn't want that to happen to me.

As to the possible air-lock - I'll have to find out how to remove the air from the system.

I do appreciate the reply.

Re: Volvo Penta D2-55

If I remember rightly, the impeller on these has a right way and a wrong way to go in. If it is in the wrong way then it won't work.

I think there is an arrow right in the centre
