VOLVO PENTA D2-40 Problem

Hi . I am using this forum for the first time and I hope I will get an answer from others who might have more experiance. I am stock in Amazon because of my VOLVO ENGINE failes . after cleaning the whole fuel system tank etc. I descover that my injector pump is BROKE I mean broken in pieces . SO no choice I had to buy one It took me ' months working in french Guyana to get 2000 EURO to buy it so I do it . yesterday I install the new injector pump the engin runs for 3 minutes and then stops. but now the problem is . instead of the burned fuel and air to go out from the exhaust it comes back from the air inlet . and the engine sounds difrend when I start it . but the valvs are working right I chek them visualy and the pressure in the head cylender . So I would like to know from any one PLEASE if I need to timing the engine when I change the injector pump . please notice that its a inline casset injector pump and I didnd even touch the shaft . I mean the timing hasnt change. what can be the problem? here where I am there are no specialst so I came to net to find out . its a VOLVO D2-40 runs 700 houres . any advise will be welcome. I need to get out of this river.

Yes the injector pump needs to be timed but I will leave that up to others to tell you how.(because I don't know the proper procedure)

Re: VOLVO PENTA D2-40 Problem

thanks gordmay and deepfrz after months my engine runs now. I wonder when it stops next . the injector pump is caset in line type so it didnt requierd timing as the timing shaft is comanded separatly (similar to valve shaft). thanks again all
