Volvo MD-11 Help

Hello, I am reassembling my MD-11 and one part just doesn't make sense to me, with new liners and pistons, a measurement from the top of the piston to the top of the liner is required, to be changed by shimming up the water jackets. I don't have access to a dial indicator for this measurement, and besides, the clearance is so much greater than the measurements that I can't see how it would make a difference. Any thoughts? Thank you.

Re: Volvo MD-11 Help

Alright, I was able to borrow a depth gauge and made the measurements. All good. The idea(I think) is that in a two cylinder engine, any imbalance between the two will be detrimental to smoothness
. My thanks to the great guys at Admiralty Marine in Pt. Loma.
