Volvo LED hourmeter not working

I know this is a common problem and both my hour meters work intermittent. I have searched the forum for a possible fix but came up empty. I believe someone mentioned a fix in another thread, so I think the answer is here. Also the port tach has stopped and any suggestions on troubleshooting that would be helpful as well. The port alternator does charge by the way. Thanks!! Sid

Re: Volvo LED hourmeter not working

Is the alternator externally or internally regulated?

Hi Sid

I know on my volvo's , only solution for the LCD was to dry them out in an airing cupboard at home, the tachometer is normally a dicky connection , mine worked off the alternator, but I think some work off a sensor on the fly wheel.

Re: Volvo LED hourmeter not working

They are stock alternators so I believe they are internally regulated.
