Vibration

We have a 41 foot, 500 HP, single engine trawler. The boat has a noticeable vibration between 1800 and 2600 rpm. Has anyone installed a steady-bearing to reduce shaft vibration?

Re: Vibration

Presuming you have checked the prop and cutless bearing, what is the un supported shaft length.

Re: Vibration

Is this a new vibration; if so, was it a sudden onset or a slowly developing vibration?

The shaft is 2 inches in diameter and 80 inches long.

Steady bearing is being installed this week, I just wondered if anybody else had experience with this solution.?
