Vetus M3.10 loosing RMP than restores?

Hello,

I have an M3.10 Mitsubish Vetus diesel. It is old but good working.

I started to have a problem with loosing RMP that I can not deal with?

When the engine is working and I go wil 1800 - 2000 RMP for a long distance every 10 - 15 minutes, without touching anything the RMP goes down to around 1000 for 5 - 10 secons and than again goes up to the normal 2000.

Maybe I can see some air bubbles coming bach from to fuel filter to the plasitk hard particles filter (but not sure).

Do you have any idea?
I guess this problem can happend to any diesel engine!

Thanks

Check your lines for leakage this problem means air in your system , it will get worse if you don't find the source.Try to check first the last thing you did on the engine ,a service on your engine etc.

Re: Vetus M3.10 loosing RMP than restores?

Thank you for the answer!

As I understand I should look for an air intake somewhere into the fuel(diesel) system, before and after filters. I guess the rubber pipelines or?

Is it a problem for the engine if I continue using it while I find the problem? Is it possible to destroy the engine?

Is it possible to take the air from somewhere else, not the diesel lines but from a heating plug or maybe the fuel pump or??

Thank you in advance!

It could also be a partially clogged fuel line or fuel tank vent line. If you can get your hands on a vacuum gauge to place in the fuel line, after the first filter, you may see something. If you do buy a vacuum gauge get one with a tell tale pointer. Its a pointer that will stop at the highest vacuum the gauge has recorded and will stay there until you reset it.

By the way its RPM. Just thought you would like to know.
