Variprop rebore?

We're needing to put a new prop on our boat (Ericson 38) and have found a good deal on a used 3 blade Variprop. The only downside is its bored for a 1" shaft and we're 1 1/8".

First and foremost, has anyone ever rebored a variprop or max prop? Is it even possible to make this work?

Secondly, if it is possible to make this work, I'm wondering if the wall of the hub on the outside the key is going to be too thin. After taking 1/16" off, there's only going to be about 1/8" left there.

Next question... I've tracked down a two blade variprop, 17" but is at 1 1/8". This seems straight forward but I must ask; can a prop shop take off 1/2" on the blades?

Yes, I can call Variprop tomorrow as well as the prop shop but I have a feeling the prop shop will say "sure!" and mess up my income to debt ratio.

It's always interestingn to hear what everyone has to say about it too.
