Sailor chick, wishing u a happy resolution on Tuesday. I agree with one poster to replace all lines, hoses, and clamps once you get back to your berth. If u r doing yoga tomorrow don't forget to have cell phone within reach just in case something gets stuck. He he.

Speaking from someone who has actually hydro locked a motor it's something to be concerned with. Probably better to pull your exhaust hose off of your muffler than the mixing elbow so you don't dump a bunch of water on your transmission but don't expect it to be easy to get the hose off without damaging it. It might be easier to just pull the impellor out of the pump & if it hasn't been changed in a while this would be a good time to do that.

Trying to run the water overboard probably means you'll have to run the hose way above the motor so you could still get back flow into the motor. Running it into the bilge won't hurt anything as long as you shut it off & reconnect as soon as it starts.

I have an electric fuel pump and 25 feet of fuel hose on order and will be repiping from the fuel tank to the relocated racor filter and to the engine. very sore today, but the diy day tank is working perfectly.

Check for those nasty spiders in the gas tank vent line, Pretty sure that was a contributing factor to my experience similar to yours.

Had an issue priming a yanmar. Put in a pump bypass to return line, with a valve, no more air in the pump. 🤗

dont forget to have a close look at the tank taps - i replaced a filter, all fuel lines and a lift pump because the 35 year old tank taps were kaput (still got the old liftpump for a spare, probly nothing wrong with it...) new taps cost me $15 each from a plumbing store. To quote another poster "fix the cheap stuff first"

OK, Finally got around to installing the new electric fuel pump. First on the old system. Ran 10 minutes and died. So either a vacuum leak or a clog (less likely).

I then ran new hose from the tank, after blowing into the hose to make sure the dip tube was clear (it was). I still have to install the extra racor filter, I've had aboard for 6+ years. But I have to order the UNF to NPT adapters first.

So looks like the mechanical fuel pump is fine. So will hook that back up when the finalize the new racor installation. Boy an electric fuel pump sure makes bleeding a snap.

Now Pooped again...and sore. But happy that Purple my yanmar is happy again.
