Universal M25xp Diesel Spare Alternator and Starter

I found this alternator and starter online and I believe these would fit on my Universal M25xp diesel . From what I understand The Kubota D950 engine is the same as the M25. Is there any reason why these wouldn't work on my engine? I am only buying them as spares for a trip to Mexico. I would be pumped to get both a spare starter and alternator for around 200 bucks.

Very odd you can only contact them by email, no person to person on the phone. Looks like one of those shell game Internet sellers. If they fail to fill your order or send you a box of rusted scrap who do you complain to? The prices are so low that I'd be very skeptical. If it's too good to be true it usually is......as they say.

Yep, I looked up the website and there were some negative reviews on it. I think I'm just going to go to a Kubota dealer and match them up. Oh well

I replaced the starter on my 5424 with a new Denso. The new Denso is about half the size and weight, and turns the engine over twice as fast. Cost about $85 on Ebay.

One observation : getting the old one off was a nightmare. The bolt heads are hidden by the starter. I ended up using 5 ft of extensions, with two universal joints, with a DeWalt electric impact driver, from the salon!

By no means assume you're going to able to change it.

If you search on Denso 18148 on Ebay, there are about a thousand options.

Getting the new one on was easier, as the starter is smaller and access to the bolt heads is much better.

PS, I spent another $10 on a can of gold Rustoleum spray paint. It's not a bad match for the Universal colour.

The M25 is a Kubota D850 block. The M25XP is the D950. Excerpt for the two extra HP (23 vs 21) they're the same engines except the XP has the bigger three inch HX and the alternator bracket has been "improved."
