Twin Disk 60P Shifting

I can't figure this or find documentation... new engine installation, standard prop rotation, etc. Gear shift lever on the transmission faces aft, shift cable comes from the top. Is forward gear a pull or push? I could wait until I get the engine going, but would like to know

Re: Twin Disk 60P Shifting

I don’t have direct knowledge of this gear, and unfortunately TD tech info for this gearbox doesn’t call out shaft rotation as relates to shift lever position......

And because the gear box can be used for LH or RH rotation, you would need to know whether you have a LH or RH prop in order to figure it out anyway.

Re: Twin Disk 60P Shifting

I have a TD 60 on a 2011 Beta marine 38 with a RH rotation. I just installed a new shift cable system and according to Beta Marine it was a "pull" . launched and all works as planned. I'd call the engine manufacturer/distributor.

Thank you. According to the dealer, rotating the shift lever shaft counter clockwise engages forward. But he was not 100 percent sure, either....

Re: Twin Disk 60P Shifting

You must turn a right hand propeller in forward. The shift lever shaft on the side of the gear rotates counter clockwise to engage forward. You should ask your dealer for a user manual for this transmission. All of this is shown plainly in the manual.
