Trans Atlantic Diesel - Good? Bad?

I am wondering if anyone has had any experience with a company called Trans Atlantic Diesel? They are sellers of rebuilt diesel engines.

What are you looking for? I thought you settled on a new engine? They are really good with Perkins.

They are located about 5 miles from my house. They enjoy a very good reputation in terms of skill and honesty. Marcus is a genuine wizard with anything desiel.

I just realized your query was from March 2007. But we have been using Transatlantic Diesel for all of our spares and serious engine work for at least 15 years...primarily Perkins and also Yanmar (Until they stopped dealing with Yanmar). We are a longtime sailing charter company and do a lot of delivery work worldwide both sail and power and have nothing but good things to say about Transatlantic. Sherri is extremely knowledgable and helpful. My British husband (a former Perkins diesel engineer) really enjoys working with them - they are a delight to work with...know their trade inside out and their service is accurate and prompt.

TAD

I sent my Perkins 4.108m to TAD to get a long block overhaul. Sherry was awesome! I am a very difficult and particular customer and searched every other option. TAD was the best option for me because I plan on keeping the boat and wanted to have my engine done by the best. They are fare and professional and surprisingly affordable. They completed the engine ahead of schedule. I called for some spare parts and she got it to me the next day. I highly recommend TAD. You will not be disappointed.

Greetings and welcome aboard the CF Tamlin.

As others have noted, TADI have a very good reputation, so all should go well /w your rebuild.

BTW: Thanks for the thanks.

Currently my 4-108 is at TAD being rebuilt after a good salt water dunking....
Jennifer has been more than helpful, and the prices are acceptable.
I will report back when finished, but I can endorse them so far.

Re: Trans Atlantic Diesel - Good? Bad?

Most of the posts are 10 years old and I would like to provide a current perspective.

Everything said previously is absolutely true and remains the same in February of 2021. TAD provides incredible service and support. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful beyond what we are accustomed to these days.
